Healthy Hips as We Age

  • 4th Street Yoga 1809 4th St Berkeley, CA 94710 USA (map)

In this workshop we will learn the basic anatomy of the hip joint, its strengths and vulnerabilities, how the hip joint is unique, and the basic principles of how it moves and how it doesn’t so we can keep it healthy. After this introduction, we will practice both Active and Quiet poses with a focus on the hip joint. Three specifics, among others that we will explore are: the position of the hip joint in Tadasana, Trikonasana and how to sit on the floor for mediation even if your hips are tight. There will be a brief discussion of some common hip injuries and hip replacement.
